The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is providing residents a safe place to dump holiday trash.
- Operation Burglar Box kicks off in Orange County
- Deputies want to reduce residential burglaries during the holidays
- Drop off locations for large holiday gift boxes
It’s part of an initiative called “Operation Burglar Box” that aims to reduce residential burglaries.
In a video posted to the Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, deputies say criminals target homes by looking through the trash.
During the holidays, people are likely to buy or receive big-ticket items such as flat-screen TVs, gaming consoles or laptops.
Leaving those large cardboard boxes outside your home could let criminals know what’s inside your home.
The Sheriff’s Office has designated drop-off locations where residents can throw away those boxes:
• Sector 1 Substation at 1111 N Rock Springs Road, Apopka
• Sector 2 Substation at 11000 Lake Underhill Road, Orlando
• St. Luke's Methodist Church at 4851 South Apopka Vineland Road, Orlando
• Hunter’s Creek Target at 2155 Town Center Boulevard, Orlando
