A Space Coast nonprofit geared toward helping local animals is now in need of help weeks after Hurricane Irma.

  • Brevard Humane Society running out of food
  • Donations needed to feed 200+ animals
  • Shelter donated food to other shelters after Irma

The shelves of the Brevard Humane Society are bare—there’s not enough wet cat and dog food to feed the more than 200 animals at the shelter.

The organization sent a truckload of supplies—including food—to South Florida to help fellow rescue groups dealing with the devastation the storm left behind.

Now the shelter is just a week away from running out.

“We thought we would refill it, and now our cupboards are bare,” said Theresa Clifton with the Brevard Humane Society. “So we are hoping we can get some more donations to fill back in for our animals.”

The Brevard Humane Society also provides food for more than 100 pets that are currently being fostered, as wells as the Meals on Wheels pet program and the Meals on Wheels for homeless pets.
