The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal hit and run that occurred on County Road 25 in Marion County sometime Saturday morning.

  • Investigators believe pedestrian walking alongside CR-25 hit by car

Officials say that Marion County authorities alerted FHP at 8:49 a.m. of the body of a white male found on the south grassy shoulder of CR-25. A Marion County deputy advised that it appeared the man was struck by a car.

Investigators found evidence at the scene indicating that a car traveling west on County Road 25 struck the pedestrian as he was walking alongside the roadway. Parts of the car found on the road currently leads investigators to believe that the car might be a Ford.

The car apparently sustained damage in the incident, according to troopers. The debris found seems to indicate that the car's left front and side mirrors were damaged.
