One person was hospitalized Saturday afternoon after an SUV struck an overhead sign, knocking it down on World Drive at Walt Disney World.

A Dodge Durango left the roadway, then struck a guardrail and a support pole for the overhead sign near Epcot Center Drive, according to Sgt. Kim Montes of the Florida Highway Patrol.

The sign blocked the southbound lanes of World Drive.

The driver, identified as 20-year-old Joemar Torregrosa Matos, was taken to Celebration Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Montes said.

He was ticketed for careless driving, according to the FHP report.

FHP troopers, deputies from the Orange County Sheriff's Office and Reedy Creek Fire Department personnel responded to the crash.
