Here's the weather forecast for Central Florida for the workweek ahead:

  • Highs in the upper 80s, lower 90s
  • 60 percent chance of showers, storms
  • Tropics: Tracking 2 systems — no threat to Florida

The remnants of Julie will lose their grip on the Southeast as they get absorbed into a front pushing in today. Instability is in place with these two systems, providing us with elevated rain chances. The front will stall and bring rain chances up again Tuesday and Wednesday.

Severe flooding and rain Monday blocked roads and trapped cars, especially in the Melbourne area.

Donna Brookner said she was trapped in a parking lot for over an hour due to the intense rain.

“I came through that office parking lot over there just to get here, I was supposed to meet friends for drinks and a movie,” Brookner said.

The intersection in Melbourne on Babcock Street and Brevard Drive saw some of the worst flooding in Brevard County.

Around a dozen cars were stranded along a portion of Babcock Street.

“It was a lake, it was completely blocked off, you couldn’t get through at all,” Brookner said.

While this section of Melbourne does see flooding during heavy rain, residents haven’t seen anything like this before.

“I've never seen it this bad. I work at the hospital but I have never seen it that bad," Brookner said.

The road did reopen around 5:30 p.m. No injuries were reported and all of the cars we saw stuck in that area have since been removed.

Central Florida Weather Forecast

A partly sunny start Tuesday will lead to temperatures making it back into the lower 90s in the early afternoon. Scattered showers and storms are expected, around a 60 percent chance. That will be the same for Wednesday, with heavy downpours and frequent lightning possible.

Fall begins Thursday, but we are not expecting any cooler temperatures going into the weekend. We are tracking newly formed Tropical Depression 13 in the east Atlantic, as well as tropical storm Karl in the central Atlantic.

TD 13 could become Lisa sometime Tuesday, while Karl could become a hurricane by Friday.

Surfers will have poor to fair conditions Tuesday with waves around knee to occasionally thigh high. A moderate rip threat continues, but as Karl moving across the Atlantic will assist in swell increase this weekend.
