A domestic dispute ended with a man in the hospital after Lake County deputies shot him Sunday morning.

The incident happened on Dwights Road, off County Road 561 in the Clermont area around 4:30 a.m.

Deputies say there was a fight between a father and son, and a woman trying to break up the fight got punched in the eye.

Deputies say 42-year-old Michael Carrol shot at them several times with a rifle, and they were forced to return fire.

The man is in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The son, Sean Carrol was arrested for simple battery domestic violence on his father.

Florida Dept of Law Enforcement is investigating, and two deputies were placed on administrative leave.
