Here's Central Florida's weather forecast for Monday night into Tuesday:

  • No break in the heat
  • Afternoon storm pattern to continue

It will remain muggy overnight while temperatures drop into the middle 70s under a partly cloudy sky.

More afternoon showers and storms will form as we heat up Tuesday to the middle 90s. Most will be sparsely scattered; however, isolated storms could produce brief downpours, gusty wind and frequent lightning.

A broad area of low pressure in the north central Gulf of Mexico will be tapping quite a bit of moisture and moving it inland well west of the state. As this moisture is being drawn into the south-central U.S. coast, a ridge of high pressure will continue to build our way from the Atlantic.

The chance for afternoon showers and storms most of the week will be about 20 to 30 percent. Temperatures will remain at or above normal this week, too, topping out in the middle 90s with lows in the middle 70s.

No tropical formation is expected through the next five days.

Surfing conditions have become poor again for Tuesday, with wave heights only about 1 to 2 feet. The rip current threat remains at a moderate level, so be sure to swim near a lifeguard whenever possible. The UV index is extreme.
