About 1,100 Florida City Gas customers in Brevard County are without service after construction crews damaged a 4-inch natural gas steel pipeline.
The Florida City Gas customers are in the south Melbourne and north Palm Bay areas.
"Our crews are working to make repairs tonight, and we will restore service to customers as soon as possible," said Katie Swink Benson, a spokeswoman with Florida City Gas.
Benson said it will take some time for Florida City Gas crews to turn off each affected customer at the meter.
"Once all meters are off and repairs are made, our crews will start restoring service," Benson said. "We expect to work through the weekend, and we will continue to provide updates as progress is made."
