The Lake County School Board has selected Diane Kornegay as the district’s next superintendent.

On Thursday, the school board voted unanimously to offer Kornegay the position, according to a news release.

Kornegay, who has been an educator for more than 30 years, comes to Lake County from the Clay County School District. She has been the deputy superintendent there since June 2015.

“I want to make you three promises,” she said. “One, I promise that every decision I make will be in the best interest of every child. Number two, I promise that I will work with you as a team. And number three, I promise to approach this job with integrity and transparency.”

After the contract is signed, Kornegay is expected to implement her 100-day plan. She will begin meeting with teachers, administrators and support staff, as well as talking with parents and members of the community.

Dr. Susan Moxley, the current superintendent, will maintain day-to-day operations for the district on a temporary basis.
