A parcel of land recently sold by Tupperware Brands Corp. in Osceola County will soon transform into high-end apartments.

  • Parcel of land in Kissimmee will be home to luxury apartments
  • Vernazza will have 256 units; expected to be done in early 2018
  • The piece of land was previously owned by Tupperware Brands Corp.

The new complex isn't visible yet, but construction is expected to begin the week after Thanksgiving.

The land behind Best Buy on Batts Street in Kissimmee that surrounds a pond will soon be the site of a 256-unit multi-family project called Vernazza. The complex will offer one-, two- and three-bedroom units.

The price range for rent is to be determined. The apartments are being developed by Fore Property Company.

Tupperware officials said the sale and project "is all a work in progress."

"Well, I think they got a lot more places to come and shop and eat," said Tom Roehlk, executive vice president of Tupperware Brands. "They have other options as far as where to live. And ultimately, if we're successful in bringing in office development, we'll have more employment opportunities. So, you put that all together and it will work nicely with having a SunRail station here, too."

The latest sale isn't all of the land Tupperware has sold, either.

The company recently closed on a sale of its 530,000-square-foot shopping center located across from its headquarters on Orange Blossom Trail in Orlando. The company is also in the process of selling land for a living facility and memory care community, as well as land for a hotel. Developers are hoping to create a live-work-play type of environment.

Vernazza, the luxury apartment complex, is expected to be finished in early 2018.
