A Port Orange woman was arrested Friday in the shooting of her husband last weekend.

Police said Carolyn Spivey, 76, intended on harming herself at a home on Sweetwater Blvd. around 2 p.m. when her husband George Spivey, 77, intervened.

He suffered a single gunshot wound and was transported to Halifax Hospital–Daytona Beach for treatment.

Detectives with the Port Orange Police Department said they determined that probable cause existed for charges against Carolyn M. Spivey and an arrest warrant was obtained charging her with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and shooting within an occupied dwelling. 

She was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail where she is being held on a $1,000,000.00 bond.
