A New Smyrna Beach man pleaded no contest Monday to a charge of DUI manslaughter from the June 2014 crash that killed a North Carolina woman who was vacationing in Daytona Beach Shores with her family.

Shawn Patrick Doolan, 37, will be sentenced in October. He faces a maximum possible penalty of 15 years in prison.

Elizabeth Braly, 45, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, was walking with family members along the sand in Daytona Beach Shores when the Florida Highway Patrol said Doolan barreled through an access gate to the beach and struck Braly.

Braly was a mother of seven and a grandmother of four.
