As the push for medical marijuana in Florida deepens, Orlando attorney John Morgan started his day Thursday by writing a check.

In a video posted Thursday morning on Facebook, Morgan said he will match every dollar donated to the United for Care Campaign, kicking it off by writing a check for $150,000.

Morgan is chairman of People United for Medical Marijuana, which runs the campaign.

An amendment that would have legalized medical marijuana in Florida fell short of passing in 2014, getting 58 percent approval. State amendments in Florida require at least 60 percent votes in favor to pass.

Critics said the amendment was flawed in the way it was written, and did not have enough restrictions.

A Quinnipiac University poll in April showed even stronger support, 84 percent of registered Florida voters polled, for medical marijuana.

Morgan said officials in Tallahassee aren't listening to medical marijuana supporters, and he will do whatever it takes to make it legal in Florida. According to Morgan, over 400,000 terminally sick Floridians could benefit from it.

Medical marijuana is currently legal in 23 states and Washington, D.C.
