A 16-year-old boy was shot early Monday evening behind a Hooters restaurant in Orlando, police said.

The shooting happened shortly after 6 p.m. in the parking lot behind the restaurant, on the 5300 block of Kirkman Road, near Vineland Road.

Orlando police said the shooting was not random, but the result of an exchange of gunfire amid what appeared to be an argument in the parking lot.

Police said the victim's injuries were not life-threatening, and the teen drove himself to the hospital.

Investigators recovered one firearm from the scene. They said they are looking for a new, black Nissan Altima last seen fleeing the scene and driving southbound on Kirkman Road. The driver's window of the car may be shattered, police said.

Viewers who witnessed the shooting said the Hooters was evacuated. Officials said the restaurant would reopen Tuesday.

Police said a stray bullet hit a building south of the Hooters, next to a neighboring Waffle House. No one else was injured, police said.
