Palm Bay is getting dirty to bring a big event to the Space Coast.

The city beat out other Central Florida cities to host one of this year's Tough Mudder events.

The 10 plus mile obstacle course puts participants in some of the most challenging endurance tests.

It will take place in The Compound area of Palm Bay.

The Compound, which was supposed to be a new residential subdivision in the city, has sat empty for years.

The Tough Mudder is expected to bring more than 10,000 people to Palm Bay and Brevard County generating millions of dollars for the local economy.  Tourism leaders expect it will mean 6,000 hotel room nights for guests.

The Tough Mudder will take place November 7 and 8.
