The SeaWorld Rescue Team has reached a milestone with more than 25,000 animals rescued over the past five decades.

So far 2015 is proving to be a busy year for animals in the wild in need of SeaWorld’s help.

In February, SeaWorld helped rescue 19 manatees that were stuck in a storm drain in Satellite Beach.

SeaWorld has also returned dozens of sea turtles to the Atlantic Ocean, and saved hundreds of sea lions that are stranding on the California coast due to lack of food.

SeaWorld says it goal for every rescued animal is to rehabilitate it and return it to the wild. The few animals with conditions that would prevent them from surviving in the wild are given lifelong care at SeaWorld or another accredited facility.
