That's what happened at an Ocala auction Wednesday, where a winning bid for one 2-year-old filly was $1.9 million.
The sale shattered the record for 2-year-olds in training at the Ocala Breeders' Sales Co.
No horse at the company's Spring Sale had ever topped $1 million before Wednesday.
The sale's publicity director said the filly, named Tapit, has an excellent pedigree and had worked out well, but buyers got into a bidding war like nothing he'd ever seen.
