Students at Eustis High School got an up-close look at the consequences of drinking and driving Thursday.

A mock DUI crash played out on the school's football field in front of junior- and senior-year students, many of whom are preparing for their upcoming prom.

Some students, along with parents and emergency responders, participated in the mock crash, organized by the Lake County Community Traffic Safety Team.

The scene was designed to create a realistic picture of how an alcohol-related crash can impact everyone involved.-

"Through a dramatization of a DUI crash, the program provides a glimpse into the serious and horrible consequences of drinking and driving," said Noble Olasimbo, president of the Community Traffic Safety Team. "We hope to help encourage students not to drink and drive."
