It wasn't the typical call that came into the St. Cloud 911 Dispatch Center.

911 operator: "Can you tell me exactly what happened?"

Alexandra: "My brother got his wisdom teeth taken out and he's on the ground... he's fainting..."

Alexandra Becerril remembers how fast her brother fell to the floor.  "He was on the ground like that!"  Alexandra snaps her fingers to accent the speed.

It was Alexandra's quick thinking to place that 911 call that allows her to sit on the couch next to her brother today, because after wisdom tooth surgery, Alejandro Becerril had a bad reaction to his medication, and passed out.  Seeing her brother on the ground and her mother desperately trying to help him, the eight-year-old acted fast and called 911.

When the 911 dispatch center picked up, they were not only surprised that it was an eight-year-old on the other line, but that the little girl was so articulate.

911 operator:  "It's OK.  Help is on the way.  I just have a few more questions, OK?  How old are you, sweetie?"

Alexandra:"Eight."

"For the entire phone call, she did such a good job," said Dyana Fischer, the St. Cloud 911 dispatcher who answered the call.  "This little girl did everything we asked of her, and some adults can't even do that."

St. Cloud police say it was her quick actions that saved her brother from serious injury.  Now that her brother is healthy and the family relieved, it was time for another surprise.  Alexandra was recognized as St. Cloud's very first 911 hero, and she said getting the award was more nerve-wracking than saving her brother.  "It was a little scary," said Alexandra.

"It was my first time getting an award."

Although she was elated to receive the award, she hopes other kids her age see just how easy it was to call 911 and won't be afraid to do it in an emergency.  Alexandra summed it up in one sentence: "If you need to call someone, you just call them in an emergency."
