Police in Palm Bay have arrested a former church youth minister in Brevard County on child pornography charges.
Andrew Leone faces 30 counts of possession of child porn.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Leone was a youth ministry assistant at Calvary Chapel of Melbourne.
The church released the following statement Monday:
“We are deeply disheartened at the news of the charges and arrest of Andrew Leone. The church took the first steps of initiating an investigation into Andrews conduct after receiving information that prompted us to place Andrew on administrative leave. We contacted the proper authorities to take over the investigation and are cooperating fully with the Palm Bay Police Department. Upon Andrew’s arrest he was immediately terminated from employment with Calvary Chapel Melbourne.
We are continuing to work with the police and are following their lead as to the next steps to take in this situation.”
