The man who drove drunk last year, crashed through a beach ramp barrier and killed a woman will serve more than 10 years in prison for DUI manslaughter.

Shawn Doolan, 37, was fingerprinted, handcuffed and sent to jail after Judge Terrence Perkins delivered the sentence Friday.

Doolan admitted to driving drunk last year and crashing into a beach ramp barrier. Doolan knocked over a toll both and slammed into 45-year-old Elizabeth Braly from Hendersonville, North Carolina.

Braly was vacationing in Daytona Beach Shores with her children and husband.

Doolan was going an estimated 64 miles an hour with twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system at the time of the crash. Doolan apologized to family members for killing Braly.

Doolan could have been sentenced to the maximum 15 years in prison, but Judge Perkins took into account the 37-year-old had a clean record.

Instead, he was sentenced to 10.37 years in prison with three years probation. He's not allowed alcohol and must undergo random urine analyses.

Doolan will also have to pay almost $10,000 in restitution. His drivers license will also be revoked for the rest of his life.
