A strong cold front has moved down the Florida peninsula, resulting in a very windy day on Monday as a strong west northwest flow moved a significantly colder and drier air mass into the region. Winds will remain elevated overnight and will produce wind chill readings near the freezing mark. Other than ongoing breezy to windy conditions though early tomorrow, the rest of the week and this upcoming weekend are expected to be sunny and dry with cooler weather to start the week and a slow warming trend into the weekend.

Look for clear skies and cold weather overnight as most of Central Florida drops into the upper 30s and lower 40s. Some of our typically colder locations north and west of I-4 will drop into the lower to middle 30s. Winds will remain elevated overnight and could gust higher than 20 mph, creating wind chill readings are expected to fall into the middle 30s for several hours and perhaps as low as the 20s in some of our colder spots. Breezy conditions are in the forecast again today under sunny skies. After a cold start to the morning, afternoon highs will remain below normal and only climb into the middle 60s. More cold weather is expected tonight as lows once again fall into the upper 30s and lower to middle 30s, although winds will not be as high and wind chill reading will not be as low tomorrow morning. Wednesday will be sunny again and even a little cooler than Tuesday with high temperatures in the upper 60s and lower to middle 60s.
Slightly milder temperatures are expected Wednesday night, although most locations will still drop into the lower to middle 40s. Sunshine and highs in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees are expected on Thursday and Friday, with high temperatures in the lower 70s on Saturday and Sunday under mostly sunny skies.
Hazardous beach and boating conditions are developing along with the windy conditions. There is a Small Craft Advisory for the near shore waters and a Gale Warning for the offshore waters through Tuesday. It will be windy and cold at the beach and the surf will be very dangerous with strong rip currents.
