The southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 27 near Hooks Street in Lake County have reopened following a multiple-vehicle crash and chemical spill, police said.

Four vehicles, including a dump truck and a pool supply van, were involved in the crash, which happened around 8:45 a.m., in Clermont.

It is unknown what caused the dump truck to strike the rear of the pool supply van. The van was carrying chlorine and muriatic acid, both of which were spilled onto the roadway.

U.S. Highway 27 was closed for a short time while the Clermont Fire Department cleaned up the scene.

The spill was cleaned up and the roadway was fully opened around 11 a.m.

Three people were transported to South Lake Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
