Sam Ficken's 36-yard field goal as time expired gave Penn State a 26-24 win over UCF on Saturday in Dublin, Ireland.

The Knights (0-1) took a 24-23 lead with 1:13 to go in the game but allowed Penn State to drive 55 yards on eight plays and kick the game-winning field goal.

UCF took its first — and only — lead of the game late in the fourth quarter after Justin Holman scored on a 6-yard run. Holman completed a 37-yard pass to Josh Reese on fourth-and-10 to put UCF in position to score the go-ahead touchdown.

Penn State quarterback Christian Hackenberg engineered a seven-play, 55-yard drive with about a minute on the clock before Ficken drilled the game-winning field goal.

Holman came on late in the second quarter for a struggling Pete DiNovo, who finished the game 3-for-8 for just 18 yards.

Holman finished 9 of 14 for 204 yards and one touchdown to go with his two rushing TDs.

Hackenberg passed for a career-high 454 yards. He finished 32-for-47 with one touchdown.

J.J. Worton (five catches, 83 yards) and Breshad Perriman (three catches, 81 yards) did much of the heavy lifting for UCF.

The Knights have some time off as they recover from a long trip before they travel to Missouri on Saturday, Sept. 13.
