City leaders in Cocoa Beach have big plans for the next five years.

The City Commission is looking ahead as part of a strategic plan for fiscal years 2015 through 2019.

Part of the proposal includes a four-year plan to build a new city hall and a five-year plan to build a new police station.

A new fire station is currently under construction.

Leaders are also looking to create a natural resources department, which would include tree giveaways to encourage residents and businesses to plant more trees.

In the downtown area, city officials want to reduce commercial vacancies and increase commercial and residential sales by 2 percent each year.

Commissioners are expected to discuss the proposal during a Tuesday night workshop. It's the only item on the meeting's agenda. The meeting begins at 6 p.m., at the City Hall Commission Room, located at 2 S. Orlando Ave., in Cocoa Beach.
