A man is dead and five people were rushed to local hospitals after a head-on collision in Seminole County.

It happened around midnight near the intersection of East 20th Street and Summerlin Avenue.

Investigators said the man who died in the crash was driving alone. There were five people in the other car at the time of the crash, police said.

Many residents heard the crash and came outside to see what happened.

"I looked down there and I saw fire,” said a neighbor. “I saw a car on fire and smoke coming from another car and just people laying out everywhere.”

According to police, witnesses told first responders one of the cars flipped over as many as six times. Police could not confirm that but said the vehicle was overturned when they arrived.

The neighbor told News 13 a resident used a fire extinguisher or a water hose to extinguish the flames coming from the car.

Police believe speed may have played a factor in this deadly crash.

The speed limit in the area is 25 miles per hour and neighbors said dozens of drivers speed along Summerlin Avenue each day.

Police have yet to release the deceased victim’s name, pending next of kin notification. The other victims' conditions are unknown.

The crash remains under investigation.
