Forecast: A look ahead

While the greatest concentration of storms Wednesday, will be across the interior, a few will make it to the coast and could be locally strong. Gusty winds over 50 mph and frequent lightning will be main threats along with torrential rain. Should some of these downpours occur over places that received heavy rain the past few days, flooding may result in poor drainage areas.

Most storms will fade after sunset. Lows tonight will stay in the mid-70s as skies become partly cloudy overnight. There could be some patchy fog due to ground moisture from recent rainfall.

Plan on similar conditions each day this week. As high pressure strengthens by Thursday and Friday, slightly hotter daytime highs will result. Mid-90s will become common throughout the interior; it will feel more like the upper 90s and low 100s with the humidity factored in. Daily storm chances will stand at 40 to 50 percent through the balance of the week and into the weekend.

In the tropics, there are no systems showing signs of development in the Atlantic and activity is expected to stay quiet through the next five days. In the Pacific, nearly 1,400 miles from the tip of the Baja Peninsula is Tropical Storm Fausto which is weakening and poses no threat to land.

Remember to catch your Tropical Updates at :21 and :51 past the hour.
