The summertime storms returned for another day, with only a few cells popping up in Central Florida. One storm, however, was enough to stop a rocket from launch in Cape Canaveral.

Scattered storms popped up over parts of Central Florida Thursday, including the Orlando area, particularly Downtown Orlando, and in Daytona Beach. Those cells are moving off to the northeast.

A lightning strike damaged a home in Oviedo Thursday.

The strike damaged the chimney of a home on Corkwood Drive.

"I was upstairs and I heard a big boom," said homeowner Eugene Malkut. "It sounded like a bomb exploded and when I came out smoke was coming up."

The homeowner says his home has already been condemned once after hurricanes caused the roof and ceilings to cave in.

There is no threat of a fire in his home.

The typical wet season weather pattern continues through the balance of the workweek with the an ongoing chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Hot, muggy conditions will occur every day after partial to mostly sunny skies.
