Investigators with the Osceola County Sheriff's Office are asking for the public's help in identifying an attempted armed robbery suspect.

The investigation began around 9:49 p.m. June 6, when deputies responded to Walmart located at 904 Cypress Parkway, in Poinciana.

When deputies arrived, they spoke with a store employee who indicated she was approached by a black female wearing a Walmart uniform and name tag.

The employee said that after they spoke for several minutes, the suspect opened her handbag and revealed a gun. The employee screamed, and the suspect fled the store and left the area in a black sedan.

“We don’t know if the suspect works for Walmart or simply had access to a Walmart uniform," said Osceola County Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Twis Lizasuain.

"That’s why we’re hoping that by getting the video out and still shots of the suspect that anybody with information would come forward. But it certainly is unusual because the clothing that she was wearing was very distinctive," Lizasuain said.

The suspect is described as a black female wearing a blue shirt, khaki pants and a Walmart name tag with the name, "Rena."

“I think a lot of people would do just about anything if they’re desperate, low on money. Times are tough," said Walmart shopper Scott Erskine.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Osceola County Sheriff's Office at 407-348-2222 or CrimeLine at 800-423-TIPS (8477).
