A teacher resigned amid accusations she left a disabled student alone in a classroom during a fire drill. The drill happened at Lake Nona High School in Orlando last week.

Science teacher Colleen Shytle resigned after the Dept. of Children and Families opened an investigation following a call to their hotline.

Lake Nona's principal Margaret Nampon sent a 20-second message to parents about the incident last week.

“The teacher resigned after an investigation began as to whether the teacher may have neglected her duties during a fire drill held at our school yesterday.”

Orange County Public Schools declined to comment on the investigation. We won't know more about the case until after Shytle's resignation is presented to the school board.
