George Zimmerman's wife is preparing to file for divorce less than two months after he was acquitted of murder for the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

Shellie Zimmerman's attorney, Kelly Sims, said she filed the paperwork Thursday in Seminole County, citing "irreconcilable differences."

George's brother, Robert Zimmerman Jr., posted Thursday on Twitter asking his followers to pray for George and Shellie:

"According to Shellie's atty Kelly Sims - Shellie is preparing to file 4 divorce. Docs have not yet been filed in Seminole Cty. Pray 4 them." — Robert Zimmerman Jr., via Twitter @rzimmermanjr

The divorce filing comes just over one week after Shellie Zimmerman commented on national TV that she would have to "think about" whether she would stay married to her husband.

In an interview with ABC last week, Shellie Zimmerman refused to comment on whether she and George were still together after his acquittal in July.

She added she wanted to have children and stay married, but when the interviewer asked, "With George?" she replied, "That's something I'm going to have to think about."

Shellie Zimmerman pleaded guilty Aug. 28 to perjury charges. A judge sentenced her to one year of probation and 100 hours of community service for lying about the couple's finances during her husband's original bond hearing after his first arrest on second-degree murder charges.

She also told ABC she believes George's version of the events leading to the shooting of Trayvon Martin.

"I can't tell you how many nights I've gone or laid awake at night just thinking that I wish to God the circumstances had been different," she said.
