Luis Toledo, the person of interest in the disappearance of Yessenia Suarez and her two children, attempted suicide Saturday.

Volusia County Sheriff's Office spokesman Brandon Haught confirmed Toledo was at the Daytona Beach Operations Center when he asked to use the restroom.

Once inside, deputies said he forced the door shut, smashed a mirror and used a shard to hurt himself.

Deputies were able to break in and get Toledo out of the bathroom. He was taken to Halifax Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The sheriff's office said a deputy was standing guard at the bathroom.

Toledo is Yessenia Suarez's husband. He was denied bond Friday on domestic battery charges. He is considered a person of interest in the case.

Volusia County deputies believe Suarez and her two children are dead.

Friends and family members of Suarez said they are waiting and hoping for answers as the search continues for the family's bodies.

A memorial outside their home has grown and people drop off notes and items to dedicate to them.
