And that’s a wrap for the Rosetta space probe.
Twelve years and one crash-landing later, history has been made.
- Rosetta was launched in March 2004
- The space probe travelled billions of miles over the last decade
- It completed its mission Friday
During the course of this project, Rosetta chased a comet, put a sister spacecraft on that cestial objects surface, and studied its chemical composition.
Once Rosetta landed, the mission controllers sent out a simple tweet in many languages: “Mission complete.”
Rosetta covered billions of miles to make it’s rendezvous with the comet.
ESA said the mission cost about $1.57 billion from the start of the project in 1996.
