A 52-year-old man is in critical condition after he was hit by a vehicle while riding his bike on Bayside Bridge Friday morning in Pinellas County.

The accident occurred around 6:12 a.m. Friday on the southbound lanes of Bayside Bridge near SR 60. 

Troopers said a Hyundai Sante Fe, driven by Clement W. Dumas, 62, failed to maintain the outside lane and entered the paved shoulder where the bicyclist was traveling. 

The Sante Fe collided with the bicyclist, who has not been named yet, pending notificiation of next of kin. 

Troopers said the victim was taken to Bayfront Health St. Pete in critical condition. 

According to the report, the bicyclist was not wearing a helmet. 

Charges are also pending, according to the report.
