Deland Fla, - Speed is the name of the game and Deland high school junior sprinter Kevar Williams is one of best in the nation.

"He’s generational talent.  He is ranked 3rd in the nation in the 200 and ranked second in the nation in the 100. Probably in 18 years of coaching probably the most fun kid to coach and to watch in the track. He’s fluid and effortless. He makes it looks so easy, just floats when he runs," says Deland boy' s track and field coach Chris Madzik.

But when going into the class 4A region 1 meet on May 1st, his confidence was shaken a little bit.  "Going into regionals I had I felt very sick the night before, there was a stomach bug going around at my house. When I woke up I didn’t feel as confident going into the meet because I didn’t feel as good. Before my 100, my knees were hurting but when I got the track, all of that went away, so I executed my races as best as I could and my times showed what I could do," says Williams.

He ended up winning the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes and he also anchored our 4X4 400 relay by which they came from behind and won.  "Winning a race, it feels very good because winning shows you the work you are putting in is actually paying off," says Williams.  "Just watching his everyday durability, just how he practices, very professional, goes about it the right way," says coach Madzik.

He started training on the track at an early age.  "Growing up my dad used to train me at 4 or 5, then moving to America I joined an AAU team.  I moved from Jamaica," says Williams.

Despite his success, coach Madzik says he has not reached his full potential yet.  "The sky is the limit for the is young man," says coach Madzik. "Hopefully one day maybe 2028 Olympics would be great."
