After two years, Brevard County's only orchid show is back. You might be surprised just how enthusiastic some of the growers are, including Sally Pancoast.

  1. Sally Pancoast lives in Merritt Island. She's a member of the Platinum Coast Orchid Society, which is about to throw its 57th festival.

  2. “The orchid club is a wonderful source of friendship and information,” she smiles, showing us around her backyard greenhouses and gardens.

  3. Sally got the orchid bug 45 years ago when her then new husband's mom, Alice, would grow flowers, and Sally would help out. “It became a hobby,” she says. “It started to grow and then you find groups of people that are also interested in it.”

  4. She and her husband travel to California, North Carolina and Miami to mingle with like-minded people.

  5. The Platinum Coast Orchid Society's Orchid Show is April 29, 30 & May 1, 2022. It's taking place at the Kiwanis Island Park Gymnasium and Annex in Merritt Island. Admission is $5.
