KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Noche de San Juan is an annual Puerto Rican celebration on the eve of a feast for Saint John the Baptist's birth. A Kissimmee water park is about to throw an all out bash – and you're invited.
Island H20 Water Park in Kissimmee is hosting its Noche de San Juan celebration for its second year.
Luis Angel (Exitos 96.5) has a 30+ year career (so far) in radio, entertaining listeners with contemporary Latin hits. “That's one of the [biggest reasons] I've been working in radio for so many years cuz it's the people, you know?" he said. “The people, and the pleasure to help people through the years.”
Angel is hosting Island H20's special nighttime event, Noche de San Juan. It's an annual Puerto Rican celebration on the eve of a feast for Saint John, the Baptist's birth. But Angel says it's celebrated by other countries in Latino America.
“We're trying to maintain that tradition of Noche de San Juan,” he says, adding in one particular tradition he remembers as a kid growing up in Puerto Rico. “At 12 midnight, you gotta go to the beach and gotta fall back 7 times for the good luck. That's the tradition.”
Island H20 is located next to Margaritaville Resort on U.S. 192 in Kissimmee. Its Noche de San Juan celebration is June 25, 2022, from 8 p.m. - midnight.
