SATELLITE BEACH, Fla. — A Brevard County dog groomer was sentenced to jail and probation time Monday for breaking a service dog’s tail, which had to be amputated because of the injury.

James Suthann, 39, was caught on video at Groomingdale’s Pet Spa in Satellite Beach in February 2019.

Investigators say Suthann got frustrated with the dog, named T.T., when it wouldn’t sit during an appointment.

In the video, Suthann can be seen twisting and breaking the dog’s tail, which later had to be amputated.

After pleading no contest, he was sentenced to 180 days in jail, followed by three years supervised probation.

Suthann was ordered to pay restitution for the dog’s medical expenses and cannot own or work with animals during his probation.
