OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — For the first time, Latinos are expected to be the nation’s largest racial or ethnic minority in a U.S. presidential election this year. Many of them are part of the younger generation.

Hispanic Federation, a nonprofit that advocates for Latino rights, was on campus Wednesday at Florida Technical College in Kissimmee. FTC officials said 74 percent of their students at the campus classify themselves as Hispanics

Hispanic Federation launched a digital campaign called: “Movimiento Hispano...” meaning Hispanic Movement. The website is in Spanish and English and includes information on how to register to vote, where to vote, how to plan transportation to the polls, and more.  

“I would say that in terms of the young voters . . . It is crucial for this voter bloc to get out and vote,” Florida State Director for Hispanic Federation Yanidsi Velez said. “We have seen increasing numbers of younger Latinos that really qualify to become new voters.”
