MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. — A caller who threatened a shooting at a Walmart in Brevard County was one of two threats called into Florida Walmart stores just a day after the deadly mass shooting in El Paso.

Both threats were made Sunday, a day after a gunman opened fire in the Texas border city, killing 22 people.

The first one was called into a Gibsonton store by a man threatening to shoot up the location, Hillsborough County Sheriff's investigators said. The store was evacuated, and no one was hurt and no weapons found. Wayne Padgett, a 31-year-old Valrico man, has been charged in connection to the threatening call.

Hours later, another threat was called into a Merritt Island Walmart. Brevard County deputies said Richard Seepersad called the location to say there were multiple shooters on the way.

"Upon arriving at the store, deputies quickly began working with the store staff to ensure the safety of the customers and employees who were concerned over the threat of an active shooter that might be targeting the store," Brevard Sheriff Wayne Ivey said.

Deputies said Seepersad falsely identified himself as "Michael" in the call. He's being held without bond and faces multiple charges, including reporting a bomb threat.
