ORLANDO, Fla. — A large Orange County Sheriff's Office presence took place outside the Lake Mann community near Orlando Tuesday afternoon after authorities pursued two people suspected of stealing a car.

  • Fleeing suspects causes huge law enforcement presence on Goldwyn
  • Two suspects, accused of stealing a car, fled into a Lake Mann home
  • One suspect with criminal history apprehended, other still on loose

According to OCSO spokesperson Christian Marrero, the incident began early Tuesday afternoon after units conducting a "surveillance operation" saw an occupied stolen vehicle near John Young Parkway and Interstate 4.

Deputies reportedly followed the vehicle to a Lake Mann apartment complex on Goldwyn Avenue, near Orange Center Boulevard and John Young Parkway.

A Sheriff's Office helicopter was able to watch the area and found two people leave the vehicle and go into one of the homes, one of them identified as a "known, violent felon." It's why officials say they used a lot of manpower.

According to Marrero, one of the suspects, 30-year-old Omar Torres Suarez, has a history of multiple gun and drug charges. A search warrant was executed by the Orange County SWAT team, and the unit ultimately took him into custody.

Marrero didn’t elaborate on what tactics were used, but witnesses told Spectrum News they saw authorities use tank-like vehicles to rip open the side of the house.

Orange County deputies are still looking for the second suspect, but they have not released any kind of ID or description.

North Lake Mann Drive was shut down for some time while the investigation took place.
