TAVARES, Fla. — Investigators in Lake County are looking for a possible arsonist after a string of suspicious fires in the last few days, and they need the public's help to find whoever set them.

"Stop, please stop," said Lake County Fire Chief Jim Dickerson. "And if we don’t stop, we will figure out who it is. There’s a lot of people that are in danger when you start setting someone’s house on fire."

Lake County Fire Officials say there were 5 fires in all, taking place in and around Umatilla between Saturday and Monday.

The first fire took place on Cemetary Road on Saturday. A vehicle was set on fire.

Then, fires were set at the Old Crow restaurant, and the Sunoco in downtown Umatilla.

Surveillance video shows a person near the restaurant, and then something catching fire a few minutes later, but the person in the video is too difficult to distinguish visually.

Then on Monday morning, a fire was set at a home on Wilson Parrish Road. A teenager was inside the house at the time. Dickerson says that fire was set in two places, at the garage and in a clothes hamper on the other side of the house. The garage and car were gutted by the fire.

A fifth fire was set at a pole barn on Saltsdale Road.

Chief Dickerson says investigators have no leads right now, and are asking people to stay vigilant. A multi-agency task force is now involved in finding the suspect or suspects.

A cash award is being offered for any information that can help authorities capture the arsonist. If you have any information, you're asked to call the Arson Hotline at 1-877-NO-ARSON. Every caller will remain anonymous.
