The Artegon Marketplace, known as the anti-mall along International Drive, is now all locked up.

  • Artegon Marketplace officially closed Thursday
  • Complex featured shops operated by local artists
  • The complex opened in 2015 after a $70M redevelopment

Two weeks ago, the owners of the shopping center said all the vendors needed to pack up and leave by Jan. 26.

One box at a time, the owners of the mom-and-pop shops at Artegon Marketplace packed up their spaces and have since moved on.

Some shops, like Gods & Monsters, got their start at the shopping center. Now, they are tasked with finding new spaces or shutting down.

Several stores, including Bass Pro Shops, the Cinemark movie theater, Boot Barn, Ron Jon and Fuddruckers, will remain open.

The 452,192 square-foot mall has been on sale since 2016. Artegon Marketplace opened in 2015 after undergoing a $70 million redevelopment. It replaced the Festival Bay Mall.

Artegon is changing hands, according to the Orange County Property Appraiser's website.

The new owner has been named the Orlando Acquisition Company LLC.

The company's plans for the space haven't been revealed, but vendors leaving the marketplace said they have heard it could be turning into anything from an amusement part to a hotel and dining complex.
