As a threat of severe weather grows closer for Central Florida, school districts across the area are making preparations.

Brevard

All Brevard Public School after-school activities, athletics and extracurricular activities are canceled for Tuesday, Jan. 9. BPS After School Care will remain open and operate on a normal schedule.

Flagler

Flagler County Schools are canceling all after-school activities, including athletics. Schools will observe regular classroom hours and release at their regularly scheduled time.

Lake

Lake County Schools have decided to follow Wednesday's early dismissal schedule on Tuesday to get students home before the worst of the storm begins. The district will excuse absences for students who stay home because of the weather. Additionally, all outdoor after-school activities, games and night-school classes for today are canceled.

Marion

Because of impending weather, Marion County Public Schools are closed Tuesday.

Orange

All after-school activities will be canceled due to inclement weather in the forecast for Orange County. This does not include Extended Day programs in middle and elementary schools. Those programs will operate but will have limited to no outdoor activity.  

Osceola

Out of an abundance of caution due to anticipated severe weather, after-school athletic events and extracurricular activities at all schools have been canceled for Tuesday, Jan. 9. Please note that Extended Day and the 21st Century program will run as normal on Tuesday.

Seminole

All Seminole County Public Schools athletics and after-school activities are canceled for Tuesday, Jan. 9 because of the potential for hazardous weather. KidZone and 21st Century Community programs will run as usual.  

Volusia

Volusia County Schools has canceled all after-school activities Tuesday because of the inclement weather expected late afternoon and evening. Extended Day Enrichment Programs will operate as usual and will not have any outdoor activities. The district will continue to monitor the weather and provide an update if there are any changes to normal operations.
