ORLANDO, Fla. — From the theme parks to theaters to scare trails, the spirits are making their presence felt throughout Central Florida in the Halloween season. There are plenty of options for family activities. Some activities are free, but most require tickets. Check out our event guide below:

Brevard County

  • "Evil Dead, The Musical"
    Oct. 13-15, 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday; 2 p.m. Sunday | Titusville Playhouse
    This theatrical experiences combines the elements of cult classic films into a crazy, funny, bloody show based upon five college students who go to an abandoned cabin in the woods and unleash an evil force that turns them all into demons. Tickets start at $38.

  • "Dracula"
    Oct. 6 - Nov. 12, on Fridays through Saturdays, 8 p.m. and Sundays, 2 p.m. | Melbourne Civic Theatre
    This new adaptation of Bram Stoker's tale paints a wickedly theatrical picture of his famous vampire. Tickets are $35.

  • Boo at the Zoo
    Saturdays and Sundays in October, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. | Brevard Zoo
    The Brevard Zoo gets dressed up with Halloween decorations, and visitors can trick or treat at Halloween stations, take advantage of photo opportunities, listen to spooky music and watch special performances. Upcoming weekend themes include Anime, Magic and Monsters. Activities are included with general zoo admission and are free for members. Families of exceptional children have a special evening set aside for them on Oct, 14, with entry times of 5 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.

  • Boo Bash
    Oct. 28, 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. | The Avenue Viera
    The event will feature a DJ dance party, face-painting, balloon twists, a family costume contest with prizes and more. Kids will receive a goodie bag with candy, glow stick, craft and a Boo Bash punch ticket. The costume contest will begin at 6:15 p.m. near the stage. A $5 RSVP is required per child.

Flagler County

  • Hall of Terror
    Oct. 30-31, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. | Fire Station 21 Palm Coast Fire Department
    Frightful fun for all, with a "Scream" theme from the horror movie franchise this year. All ages are welcome to attend for free, with supervision recommended for ages 13 and under. Strobe lighting, fog and other special effects are featured for the duration of the attraction. Park in the lot adjacent to the fire station; overflow parking is available at the Kohl's shopping center parking lot.

Lake County

  • Lady Lake's Not Too Scary Halloween
    Oct. 21, 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. | Guava Street Athletic Complex
    Lady Lake Parks and Recreation is throwing a free Halloween party, complete with costume contests in multiple age groups. Revelers can play Halloween-themed games and fill up their trick-or-treat bags with goodies from community partners.

  • Howl-O-Ween Pet Parade and Costume Contest
    Oct. 28, Registration at 10 a.m.; Parade starts at 12:30 p.m. | City Park Hall in Clermont
    The costume parade also promotes The Animal League. Pre-register for $15 for the first category. On the day of the event, registration is $20 for the first category and $5 for each additional category.

  • Trunk or Treat Groveland
    Oct. 28, 4:30 p.m. - 7 p.m. | Lake David Park
    Tricked-up cars, tasty treats and spooky awards will be part of the festivities. This city-sponsored event is free to the public. Entertainment will be provided by Wheelin and Rockin.
  • Lake Port Square Trunk or Treak
    Oct. 30, 5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m. | Lake Port Square Health Center
    Lake Port Square, an independent living community in Leesburg, will host a family-friendly Trunk or Treat event to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for families to participate in Halloween festivities. Participants are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes and join in the fun. 

Marion County

  • Boo Bash
    Oct. 31, 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. | Mary Sue Rich Community Center
    The Halloween event is safe, family friendly and indoors. It will include face-painting, creepy crafts, candy for children and more. Costumes are encouraged. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Orange County

  • Halloween Horror Nights
    Select nights through Nov. 4, 6:30 p.m. - 2 a.m. | Universal Orlando
    Universal has been scaring people since early last month. The event features 10 haunted houses, five scare zones and a live stage show. is a separately ticketed event that takes place after the park closes for the day. The new haunted houses include "Stranger Things" and "The Last of Us." The live stage show “Nightmare Fuel Revenge Dream" features pyrotechnics and aerial stunts set to a metal and electronica soundtrack. Single-night and multinight tickets are available.

  • Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party
    Select nights through Nov. 1, 7 p.m. to midnight | Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World
    This family-friendly party started way back in August. In true Disney fashion, the stars of the event are “Mickey’s Boo-to-You Halloween Parade,” “Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular” fireworks show and the "Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular" stage show in front of Cinderella Castle. Of course, guests can also trick or treat around the park for bags full of goodies. As of Oct. 10, all nights except Nov. 1 showed as sold out on Walt Disney World's website.

  • Howl-O-Scream
    Select nights through Oct. 31, 7 p.m. | SeaWorld Orlando
    The new scare at this year's Halloween spectacular is the haunted house D3LER1UM666 Laboratories, set in a government-run underwater research facility. In all, there are five haunted houses, seven scare zones, themed bars and the stage shows "Sirens" and "Monster Stomp. Single tickets can be purchased for as low as $44.99, and pass members receive a discount.

  • Happy Frights and Haunting Nights
    Now - Oct. 31, select nights and times | Leu Gardens
    In the Happy Frights experience, eight trick-or-treat stations are dispersed throughout the gardens, which feature a dancing troll bridge, a neon-light maze, a hay-pyramid and a celebration of Dia de Muertos (Day of the Dead). This experience is good for all ages. The Haunting Night experience is recommended for ages 13 and up. Visitors are welcomed by a 10-foot jack-o'lantern. They will go past the troll bridge and enter the forest of eyes and meet La Catrina in the Dia de Muertos. A neon-light maze and hay-pyramid also are part of this experience.   • Haunted Holiday Light Show
    Oct. 7-31, Sundays-Thursdays, 8:30 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays, 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. | ICON Park
    Fog drifts across the lawn as 64,000 LED lights on The Wheel dance 400 feet in the air. The park will offer free and discounted tickets and spooky photo opportunities, too.

  • Bark-O-Ween Bash: Spooktacular Puppy Pawty
    Oct. 13, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. | ICON Park
    Museum of Illusions’ puppy party features dog-friendly treats, adorable photo opportunities and a costume contest with a prize of $150 for the winning pup and its owner. Tickets will be $29.99 and include admission for the owner and his or her pet. Photos will be judged on the museum’s social channels.

  • Gators, Ghosts and Goblins
    Oct. 14, 15, 21, 22, 28 and 29, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. | Gatorland
    Visitors encounter specters, goblins and more while learning about the origins of Halloween at Swamp Ghost's Monster Museum. “The Creepy Creature Carnival,” features midway attractions, and the “Frightful Frontier” is an Old West Town populated with cursed cowboys. Hop aboard the Cryptid Express to find hidden beasties like the Florida Skunk Ape, Moth Man and Chupacabra. Children who participate in the Halloween Costume Parade will receive treat bags. The event is included with regular park admission.

  • "Vampirates: When the Blood Moon Rises"
    Select nights through Oct. 31 | Pirates Dinner Adventure
    This Halloween-themed dinner show is suitable for all ages. See the dinner theater's website for more information.

  • Tales of Terror and Nightmares
    Select nights from Oct. 20-Nov. 3 | Central Florida Fairgrounds
    Two local haunted trail attractions combine for a double show. If you're too scared to go through the haunts, live entertainment, a full bar, food, and a vendor market run by Bazaar Botanica will be available. Hours and specific dates were not provided.

  • Children's Safety Village Trunk or Treat
    Oct. 21, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.| Children's Safety Village
    This event is free and open to the community as space allows. Children are encouraged to dress up, but it is not required. Community partners, businesses, and organizations will decorate the trunks of their cars and distribute "treats" to the children along with important information on safety or goods/services to the adults in the vehicle. Games and food will be part of the event.

  • Science Night Dead
    Oct. 21, 8 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. | Orlando Science Center
    Enjoy a night scientific spooktaculars with other adults only. Events include a mystery creatures of the night animal meet-and-greet, films on the CineDome on mummies and "Mysteries of the Unseen World," science trivia, a scientific discussion on viruses, light painting of pumpkins, crafts, telescopic viewing and more. Snacks are available for purchase. Guests are encouraged to come in costume, but there are guidelines. Tickets cost $19.

  • Nightmare on Pine
    Oct. 21 and Oct. 28, 2 p.m. to 2 a.m.| 57 W. Pine Street, Orlando
    During the day, enjoy a family pumpkin patch and market. At night, a spooky carnival will feature fan-favorite Halloween classics. drinks, food trucks and more will be available. 

  • Halloweekend
    Oct. 26-31 | ICON Park
    The park will offer free and discounted tickets and spooky photo opportunities in addition to its Haunted Holiday Light Show. All children 12 and under who come in wearing costumes will get a free ride on the Carousel on the Promenade, and they and their families will get 50% off tickets for a ride on The Wheel. Throughout October, the Museum of Illusions will be transformed. Guests can get lost in a haunted mansion, encounter supernatural creatures and experience optical trickery as well as solve riddles, decode illusions and unlock hidden doors to discover hidden candy treasures while exploring the museum. 

  • Eolaween
    Oct. 28, 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.| East Lawn, Lake Eola Park in Orlando
    Until 7:30 p.m., activities include games, a DJ, a pumpkin painting and craft station and a costume contest for all ages. Capture memories at photo stations. At 7:30 p.m., the movie "Ghostbusters" will be shown.

  • Eerie Enchantments: A Haunting Halloween Soiree
    Oct. 28, TBD | ICON Park
    The event at the Museum of Illusions will feature a cash bar, a costume contest with prizes, photo opportunities with Halloween-themed illusions and more spooky surprises.

  • Trick or Treat Park Avenue - Winter Park
    Oct. 28, 10 a.m.-noon | Park Avenue
    Children in costume can visit shops and restaurants to see what treats await them.

  • Big Band Boo on the Avenue
    Oct. 28, 7 p.m. - 8 p.m. | Central Park on Park Avenue
    Orlando Big Band, billed as the only authentic 1940s big band in Florida, will perform a free spooktacular concert and entertainment like the Tale of the Headless Horseman, sponsored by Rotary Club of Winter Park.

  • Trick or Treat Safe Zone
    Oct. 28, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. | Orlando Public Library and Orange County Regional History Center
    Dress up in your beastly best for a full free day of creepy crafts, ghoulish games, a scary fun scavenger hunt — and plenty of candy.

  • District 5 Spooktacular Candy Bash
    Oct. 28, 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. | 4863 N Goldenrod Rd, Winter Park
    This family-friendly Halloween extravaganza promises family-friendly fun, interactive activities, mouthwatering treats, and a host of surprises. 

  • Trunk or Treat at Aloma Bowl
    Oct. 28, 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. | Aloma Bowl
    Guests can enjoy games, activities, prizes, candy, costumes and the chance to decorate a bowling pin at this free community event. To enter a car in advance, email jserowchak@alomabowlingcenters.com.

  • Cosplay and Cars Halloween Trunk or Treat
    Oct. 29, 11 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. | Dezerland Action Park
    The car show and other fun activities will feature a go-kart competition, a costume and cosplay contest and candy.

  • Halloween Trunk or Treat
    Oct. 31, 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. | Parking lot of Winter Park Community Center
    Local businesses and organizations will decorate their vehicles and distribute treats to children of all ages.

Osceola County

  • Pumpkin Patch
    Oct. 13-31, 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. | Promenade at Sunset Walk
    Pick out a pumpkin for your house, and take a photo with the pumpkins, scarecrow or tractor on site while listening to live music. Entrance to the patch is free, but if you want a pumpkin to take home, the prices on those vary. This event is free.

  • Trunk or Treat Car & Truck Show
    Oct. 28, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. | Promenade at Sunset Walk
    More than 100 show cars and trucks will distribute candy to trick-or-treating children and compete for three trophies. Entertainment will include street performers, The Osaka Fall Band and DJ K1X. This event is free.

  • Halloween Wedding & Vow Renewal Scare-A-Mony
    Oct. 31; Check-in time, 8:30 a.m.; Ceremony, 10 a.m. | Osceola County Courthouse
    The Osceola Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller invites 25 couples to say, “I Do” to your Boo this Halloween at the second annual Halloween Group Wedding “Scare-A-Mony” and Reception. The ceremony is in English and Spanish. A reception featuring cupcakes, beverages, and themed music will follow. Guests and couples are encouraged to wear family-friendly costumes or Halloween attire. The cost for the special ceremony is $50 and includes statutory fees. Each couple will receive a decorative certificate commemorating their day, themed photo opportunities and a printed keepsake photo. Couples can register at the Osceola County Courthouse during their marriage license application process. Registration will be open until Oct. 27, or until the event reaches full capacity. Given the popularity of the event, couples are strongly encouraged to schedule their marriage license appointments and sign up as early as possible to secure their spot.

  • Halloween at Old Town
    Oct. 31, 5 p.m. | Old Town Kissimmee
    Trick or Treat from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at free candy stations and merchants throughout Main Street. A costume contest will be held at the Old Town Stage starting at 7 p.m., followed by Halloween karaoke. The Thriller Dancers also will perform on the stage throughout the night.

  • Halloween Costume Contest
    Oct. 31, 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. | Promenade at Sunset Walk
    Over $1,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded to adults (18 years old and up) who don their best costumes. Entertainment will be provided by street performers, "Switch" and DJ Dead Ringer. This event is free.

Seminole County

  • A Petrified Forest
    Now - Oct. 28; Times vary  | 1360 E. Altamonte Dr. - Altamonte Springs
    The "Storytime Slayhouse" offers three new haunted trails, "Storytime with Mr.Snickersnee," "Merciless Magic," and "The Final Bell." Scare-free day and night tours also are available. Special days are scheduled for special-needs families and Make-a-Wish kids. See the scare trail's website for details on entry times and ticket prices. Ticket booths are open from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. No parking is available on site, but you can take the Terror Trolley at 1200 E. Altamonte Dr.

  • Zoo Boo Bash
    Oct. 14, 15, 21, 22, 28, 29; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  | Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Gardens
    Visitors of all ages are urged to show off their costumes as they stroll around to treat stations, see their zoo favorites and take part in other fun activities. Zoo Boo Bash is included with admission. For the zoo’s annual passholders, admission is $5 per person named on the pass identification card. 

  • Ghoulishly Good Times
    Oct. 20, 6:30 p.m. | Torcaso Park
    The Winter Springs Police Department is hosting a free community movie screening of Goosebumps, featuring Jack Black, at Torcaso Park. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs, and enjoy food trucks, free popcorn and treats.

  • Howl-O-Ween Dog Walkathon and Canine Costume Contest
    Oct. 21, 9 a.m. - noon | Cranes Roost Park
    Enjoy a leisurely dog walk, costume contest, raffles, adoptable pets and more. Advanced registration costs $20.

  • Trunk or Treat Longwood
    Oct. 21, 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. | Reiter Park
    Activities include a children's costume contest, a variety of trucks and other candy-filled vehicles, bounce houses, games, free candy for the children and vendors. Pre-register children ages 0-12 for the costume contest at 3 p.m.-3:30 p.m. Contests by age group begin every 30 minutes starting at 3:30 p.m. Parking is located in the back parking lot of South Seminole Hospital.

  • Halloween Dance Party
    Oct. 25, 6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. | Longwood Community Building
    The party for youths from 4 to 18 years old will include an age-based costume contest, music by DJ Dennis, light refreshments and candy. Tickets are $8

  • Wekiva Island Halloween Bash and Costume Contest

    The party will feature live music by the Hindu Cowboys, the fan-favorite costume contest with prizes, spooky décor and drink specials. The event is free but is only for adults ages 21 and up. 

  • Trunk or Treat at Airport Lanes
    Oct. 28, 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. | Airport Lanes
    Guests can enjoy games, activities, prizes, candy, costumes and the chance to decorate a bowling pin at this free community event. To enter a car in advance, email lyuknavage@alomabowlingcenters.com.

  • Halloween Safety Spooktacular
    Oct. 30, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. | Seminole State College
    Children can go trick-or-treating at over 40 various displays decorated by members of the SCSO and other Seminole County agencies and partners, including the Fire Department, Seminole State College, and the Seminole County Health Department. Music and entertainment will be provided. A designated parking area will be provided to ensure orderly and safe parking arrangements.

  • Halloween at Cranes Roost Park
    Oct. 31, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. | Cranes Roost Park
    The city-sponsored event offers a free, community trick-or-treat alternative for children, featuring candy, costume contests, games, activities and more. Food and beverages are available for purchase.
