The complex will hold two Women in Space panels this week—one on Thursday and one on Friday—where visitors can hear from former former astronauts and other women trailblazers.

The panelists for Thursday’s panel will include former NASA astronauts Anna Fisher and Kathy Horton; Caley Burke, NASA’s Launch Services Program; Col. Erin R. Gulden, Senior Materiel Leader with the U.S. Space Force, Kelly DeFazio, KSC site director for the Lockheed Martin Spacecraft Orion; and Kimberlyn B. Carter, associate program manager, Exploration Ground Systems with Kennedy Space Center.

Fisher and Thornton will be part of Friday’s panel, which will also include Vanessa Wyche, director of Johnson Space Center; Noelle Zietsman, vice president and chief engineer with Boeing Exploration Systems; and Nancy City, partnership development manager with NASA Kennedy Center Planning.

Lisa Malone, former director KSC public affairs, will moderate both panels.

The panels are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. at the complex’s IMAX theater and last about 40 minutes. They are included with admission to the complex.

Kennedy Space Center will also offer a special afternoon tea for an additional charge. The add-on event, priced at $83 per person, will include a small-group setting to chat with the panelists, hors d’oeuvres, champagne and commemorative gifts.

The afternoon tea is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday.

The events come as ahead of the 40th anniversary of Sally Ride becoming the first American woman in space. On June 18, 1983, Ride launced with her four crewmates aboard the Space Shuttle Challenger on the STS-7 mission.
