Here's the Central Florida weather forecast for overnight Thursday and the upcoming weekend:

  • Quiet overnight with mostly cloudy skies
  • Showers, storms expected again Friday afternoon
  • Tropics remain quiet for now

We had another hot and humid Thursday afternoon with scattered showers and storms. Highs were in the low 90s.

Tonight will remain quiet with partly to mostly cloudy skies. Temperatures will be in the mid 70s.

We'll have another round of showers and storms on Friday afternoon with temperatures in the upper 80s and low 90s.

There's a stationary boundary stalled out over northern parts of the peninsula. It has allowed deep moisture to make its way back into our area, which will help keep those rain chances high for the next few days.

Approaching daybreak, we will see fair conditions with a mix of clouds and sun to start. But as the sea breeze boundaries begin to set up and make their way inland, storm coverage will be widespread for our inland areas later in the day. Some of these storms could be on the stronger side, producing frequent lightning, torrential downpours and gusty winds in excess of 40 mph.

Highs will climb to 90 degrees with upper 80s along the coast.

The tropics remain quiet with no formation expected over the next several days.

Boaters heading out on the water tomorrow will have favorable conditions early but could see scattered showers and storms in the afternoon, allowing for conditions to become hazardous.

If you are heading out to the beaches, swimmers and surfers will face a moderate risk of rip currents, but conditions will be poor for surfing. Be sure to stay near a lifeguard.
