ORLANDO, Fla. — Hot temperatures gave Melbourne its fifth-hottest July on record and Sanford its sixth-warmest on record.

Melbourne's July temperatures tied with 2010 for the fifth hottest. The July's of 2016, 2017 and 2018 are the top three warmest on record in Melbourne.

The monthly average temperature in Melbourne was 83.8 degrees, which is 2.1 degrees warmer than normal for July.

Sanford's July tied for the sixth-warmest on record with 2015. July of 2016 is the hottest on record for Sanford.

Sanford had a monthly average temperature of 84 degrees, which was 0.6 degree above the normal.

Orlando and Daytona Beach finished slightly above average for temperatures, but they did not finish in the top 10 warmest July's on record.

Rainfall was below average for most of Central Florida with the exception of Daytona Beach.

Daytona is the only spot to finish wetter than average for July.

The airport there in Volusia County picked up 6.55 inches of rain, which is 0.72 inches above the monthly average.

Orlando picked up 6 inches officially at the International Airport. That is more than an inch below normal.

Melbourne received nearly 5 inches of rain, but was still more than an inch drier than average.

Sanford got a whopping 7.06 inches at the airport and still finished just shy of the average.

July is the rainiest month of the year normally in Sanford with 7.36 inches.

It is the second wettest for Orlando with an average of 7.27 inches of normal rainfall. June is the wettest month for Orlando with an average of more than 7.5 inches.

In Daytona Beach, July is the third-wettest month of the year. It is tied with June and the rainiest month in Daytona is September.

For Melbourne, July is the fourth rainiest. The most rain typically falls during the month of August. The normal rainfall in August is more than 7.6 inches in Melbourne.

Records for Orlando go back to 1892, 1923 in Daytona Beach, 1948 in Sanford and 1937 in Melbourne.
