PHOENIX — Jodie Sprayberry has found her safe haven.

She now works as director of development at Arizona Helping Hands, a foundation dedicated to improving the lives of foster children.

"It was life-changing enough" just being the first person hired in that role, she says, but now, her entire family has changed.

Sprayberry is now the proud mother of a 4-year-old adopted son.

And with her gifted touch, she's pulled in more helping hands.

"You can tell how exciting it is for our volunteers, because they continue to come back," she says.

Her recent volunteers, though, aren't from the area. They arrived from Central Florida — in the form of a handful of UCF Knights football moms who decided that a mother's work is never done, especially when it involves a child in need.

"When we came out here and had the opportunity to sign up for this, we jumped at it," Chris Jasinski says.

"It comes from the heart. It's innate as a mom, so I think it's just something special that we can share with an organization like this and the kids that really need us."

"We're doing it together so we'll not forget this moment," UCF mom Hope Mack says.
