Guitarist Brandon Mendenhall and actor RJ Mitte first met at a film festival, where they bonded as friends and as individuals who had both overcome adversity to find success in the entertainment industry. Mitte, best known for his role as 'Walt Jr.' on Breaking Bad, and Mendenhall, a guitarist with the rock band, The Mendenhall Experiment, both battle cerebral palsy.

The pair appeared on The Beat on 1 this week to discuss Mind Over Matter, a new documentary which chronicles the story of Mendenhall overcoming cerebral palsy to learn the guitar and form a rock band.

Mitte, a big supporter of Mendenhall and the film, is an advocate for removing the stigma associated with disability, and like his friend, he's refused to let his condition deter him in his drive to succeed or do what he loves.

The two friends discussed the film and their respective journeys to success in the entertainment industry with Spectrum News 1 anchor Lisa McRee.
